Seasons & Hours
Fall, 2024.
This year the farm will not open. This is because our 2023 crop was 50,00 pounds and we pressed cider until Christmas. The trees are healthy and lush but this year---as is natural---they have produced a very small crop. We will still have our aged apple cider vinegar for sale ( get the updated prices and order via email) and still do a limited amount of custom pressing.
Our email is [email protected]. Email is always the best way to reach us for vinegar orders and inquiries about cider. We will NOT have Cider Club this year---so please ignore the details that follow. They will be updated next year. If you order a 5-gallon minimum via email by 5:00 p.m Wednesday you get a dollar off the gallon price. If you want the cider packed in half-gallons it is .50 off the half-gallon (due to the cost of jugs and labels and labor filling half-gallons as opposed to gallons). When you email specify amount, and whether you want them in gallons or half-gallons. This year we are not doing freezer-ready cider but can give you extra lids so you can make it freezer-ready at home.
Our prices this year are as follows: gallons of cider are 12.00, half-gallons are 9.00. Vinegar prices: gallons, 20.00.half-gallons, 12.00, 12.7 ounce glass bottles, 6.50. Vinegar prices will go up in January, 2024, as we have not raised them in several years.
We are monitoring the Covid-19 situation and based on the weekly risk assessment in Waldo county we may require masks and try and conduct much of our sales business outside. If you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask. If you are ill, please do not visit that day. We are trusting in you to help keep us all safe.
We are happy to say the orchard was featured in the October 2017 Down East Magazine--- Please contact us via email with questions about the farm. Because our award-winning vinegar is aged three years, we DO have ample amounts to sell year-round.
We also invite you to check out our three Airbnbs on the farm, The Treehouse at Sewall Orchard and Cider House East at Sewall Orchard, and Cider House West at Sewall Orchard.
Late September/Early October to November Apple season usually starts the last week of September and continues until about the first part of November, weather dependent. Traditionally, we are never open until after the annual Common Ground Fair, which is always the third weekend after Labor Day. However---caveat emptor---though we have late season varieties, climate change appears to be bringing on earlier apple seasons so please check our outgoing voicemail and our Sewall Orchard Facebook page in September each year! We sometimes advertise in the Camden and Belfast newspapers, and always have our hours on our outgoing voicemail. The farm is open for business 11-5:00 Fridays, and 10:00-5:00 Saturdays and Sundays.
Please Note: During the weekend of the Common Ground Fair (3rd weekend of September) we are not open for business.

You may buy apples, cider and vinegar and see the cider press in operation if it is a day we are pressing. For safety and sanitation reasons we allow groups only at the edge of the barn when the press is in operation. We provide custom pressings but the demand has been so high for several years we first schedule long-time customers (Please first read the section on custom pressing to familiarize yourself with the rules and then contact us via email to see if we have openings for an appointment and bring the agreed upon amount of clean, unsprayed apples). Due to the age of our precious trees, we are no longer able to offer pick-your-own.
Visitors Welcome but please... Hikers and picnickers are welcome, but please, leave your dogs at home; we are dog lovers, too, but for health reasons we cannot allow dogs in the orchard.
Families and small groups are especially welcome - Re: Covid-19: if you have any symptoms, are traveling from a "hot" state or believe you may have been exposed to the virus, please wait and come next year. Larger groups can hike our hill or walk in the orchard.
Professional and/or amateur photographers! Please be advised: The orchard, from the bottom of the driveway to the top of the mountain, is our home. It is private property, which is open to the public during apple season on the days and hours we are open or by special arrangement. Due to problems with people coming on the property and taking photos of the orchard, our house, barn, crew and so on, and at times publishing these photos without permission, we are very strict about unauthorized photos / photos by people who simply wander onto the property. If this occurs you will be asked to leave. If you are here picking apples with family or friends please freely take pictures of them or the trees or mountain, or ask the crew first if you wish to photograph them or their children. If you have any other request in terms of photographs please email Mia or Bob at ([email protected]) in advance and await our reply. We thank you for respecting our farm and home.

Follow signs for Sewall's Orchard. The road turns to the left, becomes a dirt road and goes up and over a hill. The turn in to the orchard is at the bottom of the road and is marked by a small sign, a red heart and a street sign that says "Robert's Way."
From the North:
Take route one south of Belfast to Lincolnville Beach. At the flashing yellow light, turn right onto Route 173. Follow that to Lincolnville Center and proceed as described above, taking route 52 at the Center General Store.
From the West: Take Route 3 from Augusta to Belmont Corners. Turn right on Route 131. Immediately turn left onto Lincolnville Road. Follow this for 6 miles until you come to the only stop sign. Turn right onto 52. Within a quarter mile you will see a sign for Sewall's Orchard. Take your first right onto Tuckerbrook road and proceed.
